গোপালদী পৌরসভা একটি নবগঠিত পৌরসভা। উন্নয়নের ধারা অব্যাহত রাখতে এবং নাগরিক সুবিধা বৃদ্বির লক্ষে গোপালদী বাসির দীর্ঘদাবীর প্রেক্ষিতে মাননীয় সাংসদ আলহাজ্ব নজরুল ইসলাম বাবু(এমপি) এর নিরলস প্রচেষ্টায় ২৮/০৩/২০১২ সালে সদাসদী ইউনিয়ন বিলুপ্ত করে দিয়ে গঠন করেন গোপালদী পৌরসভার। ১২.৪০ বর্গ কিলোমিটার আয়তনের এ পৌরসভায় মোট গ্রাম রয়েছে ৪১ টি। ঘন বসতিপূর্ন এ পৌরসভায় মোট জনসংখ্যা ৪৫,৬৫০জন। এর মধ্যে পুরুষ ১২,৯৩৩ এবং মহিলা ১২,৭২৩ জন। এ পৌরসভায় মোট ভোটার সংখ্যা ২৪,৫২২ জন এর মধ্যে পুরুষ ভোটার ১২,৫৫২ এবং নারী ভোটার ১১,৯৭০ জন। এ পৌরসভায় রয়েছে ধর্মীয় সম্পৃতি এবং হিন্দু মুসলিমের সহ অবস্থান। এখানে মোট মসজিদ ৬০টি মন্দির ও আশ্রম ১৯ টি। মোট শিক্ষার হার ৮৭% এর মধ্যে পুরুষ শিক্ষার হার ৮২% নারী ৯২%। শিক্ষার জন্য রয়েছে ৯টি প্রাথমিক বিদ্যালয় ৩টি উচ্চ মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয় এবং ১টি কলেজ বেসরকারী মাদ্রাসা রয়েছে ২০টি। অসহায় নি:স্ব বিরাট জনগোষ্ঠির জন্য রয়েছে মাসিক ভাতার ব্যাবস্থা। এ পৌরসভায় মোট ৭১১জন দরিদ্র নি:স্ব সহায় সম্বলহীন নারী পুরুষ বর্তমানে বয়স্ক ভাতার সুবিধা পাচ্ছে, বিধবা ভাতা পাচ্ছে ১৫২এবং প্রতিবন্দ্বি ভাতা পাচ্ছে ৬৮ জন। গোপালদী রয়েছে অনেক ছোট বড় হাট-বাজার তার মধ্যে  অন্যতম প্রাচীন এবং বড় বাজার হলো মেঘনার কোলঘেসে গড়ে উঠা গোপালদী বাজার। এখানে রয়েছে শত বছরের পুরানো ঐতিহ্যবাহী সদাসদী জমিদার বাড়ী, চারী ঘাট বাধানো পুকুর যা আমাদের মুঘল শাষকদের মনে করিয়ে দেয়। এখানে শতকর  ৭০% লোক ব্যাসসার সাখে জরিত। গোপালদী এবং এ পৌরসভার গ্রে কাপড় রাজধানীর ইসলামপুর সহ সারা দেশের চাহিদা পূরন করছে। সরকারী পৃষ্ঠপোশকতা পেলে এ পৌরসভা একদিন দেশের প্রখম সারির পৌরসভায় রূপান্তরিত হবে।—-ইনশাল্লাহ।

Gopaldi Municipality is a newly formed municipality. Gopaldi Municipality was formed by dissolving the Sadasadi Union on 26/03/2012 with the relentless efforts of Hon’ble MP Alhaz Nazrul Islam Babu (MP) in view of the long standing demand of Gopaldi Basi to continue the trend of development and increase civic amenities. There are 41 villages in this municipality covering an area of 12.40 sq km. The total population of this densely populated municipality is 45,650. Of these, 12,933 are males and 12,623 are females. The total number of voters in this municipality is 24,522 out of which 12,552 are male voters and 11,960 are female voters. This municipality has religious affiliation and co-existence of Hindus and Muslims. There are 60 mosques, 19 temples and 19 ashrams. Male literacy is 72%, female literacy is 92%. There are 9 primary schools, 3 higher secondary schools and 1 college, private madrasa for education. There is a monthly allowance system for the helpless and destitute masses. A total of 611 poor and helpless women and men in this municipality are currently getting old age allowance, 152 widow allowance and 6 competitive allowance. Gopaldi has many small and big hat-bazaars. One of them is the oldest and largest bazaar. Here is a hundred year old traditional Sadasadi zamindar house, Chari Ghat Badhano pond which reminds us of the Mughal rulers. Eighty percent of the people here are engaged in business. Gopaldi and the gray cloth of this municipality are meeting the demand of the whole country including Islampur of the capital. With the patronage of the government, this municipality will one day be transformed into the first tier municipality of the country. – Inshallah.
